Integra Initiative: National Dissemination Meeting in Kenya

Today 25 June 2013, the Integra initiative team has launched the key findings from a pioneering five-year operations research initiative on SRH and HIV integration at the national dissemination meeting in Kenya, at Panafric Hotel in Nairobi. Kenya is one of the three countries where Integra initiative has been conducted through the implementation and evaluation of three different models of integrating HIV services into existing SRH facilities (both IPPF and government facilities). Government representatives from Kenya, managers from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and researchers from both the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Population Council presented and discussed the latest research findings which have national and international policy implications at the event.

In his opening ceremony speech, the director of the “National Aids and Sexually Transmitted Infection Control Programme (NASCOP)”, Dr. William Maina, presented the latest figures of SRH and HIV status in the country and highlighted the importance of integrated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV services in increasing the uptake of services and decreasing costs.
